Planning to meet the needs of older residents

The City of Watertown is now developing a Comprehensive Plan which will shape the future of Watertown for years to come. Watertown for All Ages offered our recommendations about improving programs and services for older residents.

Watertown for All Ages Transportation Initiative for Seniors (WAA-TIS)

At the end of 2020 WAA completed a two-year project designed to identify and begin to address the transportation needs of older people who live in Watertown.

Phase I: 2019 Report Identifies Older Residents’ Transportation Needs
Watertown for All Ages Transportation Initiative for Seniors (WAA-TIS) released Mobility for Older People in Watertown: An Assessment of Needs and Recommendations. The report presents the results of a year of research to identify the transportation needs of Watertown’s older residents and to develop recommendations to address the unmet needs.
 
Phase II: Trial to Offer Ride-Hailing Services Affected by COVID-19
The Final Report on Phase II of the WAA-TIS project to expand transportation choices for older adults in Watertown in 2020 describes what was learned since the trial began and the challenges caused by the Corona virus pandemic.
